Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits most of which were based in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in love with Colorado and then relocated to Aspen. A few took the road to Colorado following the Denver's cult songs for his home state. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared that John Denver was by far one of the most popular performers who embodies Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame to be inducted into the hall. Denver has become the image of Colorado to many all over the world. When I travel, you are likely to meet people from opposite sides of the world. As an example, you might meet people from New Zealand. And when you say that you are from Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief stint in small folk bands. Danoff wrote the song in conjunction with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver saw an early rendition immediately, he realized it was destined to be a hit single. After performing the song on stage in Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver made a recording a few days afterward.
